Donnie Yen has become one of the most celebrated Hong Kong actors and martial artists. Donnie is a multi-faceted entertainer whose many talents include directing, producing and action choreographing.
Donnie arrived on the scene in 1983 as a stuntman for the movie Shaolin Drunkard. His first acting role was in the 1984 film Drunken Tai Chi. Donnie made his directorial debut with the 1997 film Legend of the Wolf.
Donnie’s most popular roles to date are IP Man (2008) & IP Man 2 (2010) in which Donnie plays the title role of Yip Man the Wing Chun master who taught Bruce Lee. Donnie also reprised the role of Chen Zen in Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zen (2010) a role that was originated by Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury. Donnie’s most recent film is Wu Xia which co-stars Takeshi Kaneshiro. The highly popular film grossed over 15 million in it’s first week of release in China is now making it’s way across the globe. Expect to see it in year end award ceremonies.
Donnie is also a devoted husband and father. Just recently it was revealed that Donnie composed a song for his wife for their first anniversary (how very sweet and romantic).
